Challenge description:
Gap of curved platforms in the Barcelona metro network – we are looking for an innovative solution to bridge the horizontal and vertical space, between the train and the platform to improve accessibility for all users.
In the current system there are 9 TMB network stations that are built in a curve, this design creates a space/gap between the platform and the vehicle access doors. This prevents access from not complying with the stipulated accessibility conditions.
This space makes access to the train difficult for all users, in the case of people with reduced mobility, and especially with physical disabilities (wheelchair users), it can prevent access.
A solution is sought that solves this problem of geometry and empty spaces.
